I have people ask me all time .Which is safer? No doubt about it Breakers are the best. The biggest Mistake that I see when I go in some of the older homes, that still have the old fuse panels is that most all of the circuits are on 30amp fuses. If the person is not liscensed you don't want him/her. Ask if they have their work inspected? All electrical work of any magnitude should be inspected.
