Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital
By FrankJohnson October 08, 2013
As a young person who has been denied opportunities to purchase health insurance, I was forced due to a serious illness to come to this hospital. At the end of my over the weekend stay, I was confronted by a friendly payment controller who explained that while my ailment would have normally be billed at $25,000 they graciously offered me a price of only $6,000 because I lacked insurance. Thinking I made a good deal, I happily paid. Unfortunately, it's misleading to present the $25,000 figure, because on average an insurance company will only ever reimburse the hospital at a rate of 30-35 cents on the dollar, perhaps getting $8,750 out of the insurance company. Later the hospital "revised" their estimate and sent me a bill for $9,000 instead. Really, the hospital is doing nothing to "help" patients who don't have insurance, however they'll make you feel like they are saintly creatures for offering such a "discount" like they are doing some great act of charity for which the hospital will suffer. Nothing could be further from the truth. This organization will get paid, but I'll never have anything else to do with them again. ...read more
Monarch Medical Clinic

This is my history (I shouldn't do this research before going there, I moved to Katy, tx on November of 2011. My insurance have me this Dr office as PCP. I called and schedule an appointment over the phone and they gave me one for the following week, I told them that I don't have the insurance card yet since I just moved they have not arrived yet and they said no problem as long as I have the Id number (which I did) appointment date came, took my three kids out from school, ( one which it was sick that date) and went to this office, at soon I get there and try to sign in they told me they will not see me unless I have the actual card. I ended up in emergency room since my son had been so sick. When my card finally arrived I schedule another app there (I shouldn't but I did it) did the same process (took the kids from school, this time my youngest was having an asthma episode and I though it will be a perfect moment for the doctor to see him, since we just moved I didn't have that much albuterol) went to this terrible office and at soon as was trying to sign in (again) they said they were not accepting new patient, I went nuts . Why did it they didnt tell me that over the phone so I can find other doctor, they gave me an app again, make take my jids from school again with a sick child for nothing? How disrespectful was that? What are they thinking? I really feel like complaining (and I will. BBB or wherever I will make at least noise) luckily I call this office just across the street and they understood my anger, saw my son and prescribed the most need it medicine for my son. PLEASE LISTEN DON'T GO TO MONARC MEDICAL CLINIC from the reviews I read there is more cons than prons it must befit som something I wish I read before. ...read more
