Mother's Day
It's Mother's Day, and if you forgot to buy something for that special lady in your life, make it up next Friday (5/16) and give her the roses that she really wants, as our personally hand selected barrel of Four Roses single barrel bourbon is finally making its appearance. Come join us next Frida from 7-9pm for a tasting and purchasing event for this truly, unique bourbon, for that truly, unique lady in your life. A breakdown of Four Roses: On the back of each bottle of Four Roses bourbon, you will see a 4-letter code that the distillery uses to abbreviate that recipe. The Ten Recipes And Where They Have Been Used OBSV- Single Barrel&2008 Mariage&2010 Single Barrel 100th Anniversary & 2010 Small Batch Limited Edition OBSK- Small Batch & 2008 Single Barrel 120th Anniversary & 2009 Mariage & 2010 Small Batch Limited Edition OBSO- Small Batch OBSQ- OBSF- OESV- OESK- Small Batch & 2008 Mariage & 2010SmB LE OESO- Small Batch & 2007 1B Rutledge 40th Ann & 2009 Mariage OESQ- 2009 1B LE OESF- Letter Abbreviations O-.................The 1st letter=Produced at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY. B/E-..............The 2nd letter=The mashbill. S-.................The 3rd letter=Straight whiskey Distillation V/K/O/Q/F-....The 4th letter=The yeast strain Mashbills B=60% corn, 35% rye, 5% malted barley E=75% corn, 20% rye, 5% malted barley Yeast Culture V=Delicate Fruity Flavor K=Slight Spice Character O=Robust Fruitiness Q=Floral Essence F=Light Herbal Essence So given that our personally, hand selected barrel is bottled at 100 proof and since it is anOBSVrecipe, you can conclude that it is from Lawrenceburg, KY(O), it will be a balance of the sweetness from the corn and spiciness from the rye(B), it is a straight distillation whiskey(S),and the flavor profile will be a delicate fruity flavor(V). You might have noticed that the current Four Roses Single Barrel product also uses theOBSVrecipe. What differentiates our barrel from the year-round offered single barrel? Although both are bottled in at 100 proof, attributes such as how high the barrels are stored, how long the bourbon is aged in those barrels, and among other environmental conditions affect each barrel's flavor profile. The yearly single barrel is aged 7-8 years while our unique single barrel is aged 9 years, 3 months and bottled on April 10, 2014 to be exact. That being said, come join us for a tasting and a chance to purchase this truly unique bourbon on Friday, May 16th from 7-9pm. We will have other limited edition Four Roses bourbons to taste as well! ...read more
