To Hire A Wedding Planner or Not…That is the Question!

Regalo Design polled our friends and asked the following question. "Did you hire a wedding planner?" and the follow up to that question was, "If not, would you hire a wedding planner now if you could do all over again." Here are some of the answers to the questions we received. Thank you to our friends who posted responses. These are all great points that I wanted to address after each post. Regalo Design is a full service wedding planning, florist and event decorator located in Nashville, TN. serving Nashville to Indianapolis. I wanted to posts our services brochures below and let you know that if you have a need, call us! We take our packages and adjust them to each bride based upon your needs. We also offer all of our bride's wholesale costs on flowers, rentals and so much more! Contact sarah@regalodesign.comto begin the planning process. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you! ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. "Yes. And I am sooooo glad I had her. I did not have to worry about running the day. I gave her the control."- Lisa In response to Lisa's post: First, this is a bride who was satisfied and happy with the experience of the hiring a wedding planner.  Lisa made an important point. When you hire a wedding planner you must be able to trust that person's decisions and let go on your wedding day. Your wedding planners main job is to take control of any situation and give you the freedom to enjoy each moment along the way. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. "Yes we did. It did save a lot of hassle, and it helped since I was still in school an hour away from everything. There were downsides too: he 'strongly encouraged' us to use certain vendors (DJ for example) that he liked. Our DJ and photographer were his recommendations and they were 2 of the creepiest men I've ever met. If I had to do again, I would still use a planner, but I would meet with more than one and probably go with one of my wedding planner friends since they know me better than some stranger."- Jessica In response to Jessica's post: Most wedding planners have a list of preferred vendors. It is important that they have several vendors that may fit each bride's individual taste and style. However, the client is the person that should make the final decision on the vendors. The wedding planner is professional option but the client needs to be happy with the decision. As far as the planner being your friend…I think it is very important that the planner is someone who you feel knows your desires and will be able to make quick decisions based upon your vision. If it isn't a personal friend, make sure it is someone you enjoy being around. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. "No but I'm a control freak who couldn't have surrendered my wedding details to anyone.  My daughter-in-law used one at their wedding last fall and it took such a load off her shoulders!"- Dawn In response to Dawn's post: Major milestones in life are hard to let go of. My advice to those who find it hard to let go is to hire a wedding planner who will come in and simply guide your decisions and be there on the wedding day to make sure everything runs smoothly. Your wedding day is not the day to be a superhero. Try and release that to someone who can give you peace about the event. As a wedding planner, I understand it is hard to let go of your big day. Some may never be able to and that is ok. It is just something to consider. I can guarantee you, most wedding planners are control nuts as well…J That is why we are good at what we do. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. "I'll never forget years ago when my sister got married, the photographer (a retired HS principal) ran the show to an ANNOYING degree! He had a schedule (probably had another wedding to get to) that he expected folks to follow whether we were ready or not! Half of the photos we took with my sis before the wedding, she didn't have lipstick on yet! We were having a lovely time at the reception – my sis had just gotten a chance to sit down and have some food, then HE marches up and says, "It's time to throw the bouquet and garter!" I was like, Wow! Who died and made him God? We're having fun here! But we did as told! Sarah – You need to tell Brides that a wedding planner is THEIR advocate!"- Marni In response to Marni's post: Wow…I can understand your frustration! Schedules are VERY important on the wedding day…HOWEVER; varying from the schedule in those special times is essential. A schedule should serve as a general timeline so that all of the vendor's onsite have an event order. This timeline should not be barked at the client! The wedding planner must have class to handle adjustments professionally. A wedding planner should be able to be sensitive to those special moments that occur during a wedding celebration and adjust to those accordingly. I completely agree that a wedding planner is the clients advocate! Regalo Design strives to be a support to all of our clients and properly plan prior to the event so that adjustments can be made quickly and tastefully on the wedding day. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. "I'm not married, but I'm a photographer. http://www.clairebuffie.com As a photographer, you become the wedding planner/organizer if there isn't one.  Having a wedding planner/coordinator makes life a lot easier for more than just the bride!  The rest of the vendors as well!"- Claire In response to Claire's post: I couldn't have said this better! It is hard, as a wedding planner, to convince a bride that having a wedding planner is so important because it is my service. (Of course I am going to say it is important) To hear this from a photographer makes it so much easier. The wedding planner/coordinator is the person who keeps all of the vendors updated on changes and the day's events. This is an aspect that so many people forget. You don't want to be the person all of the vendors are coming up to on your wedding day. Thanks Claire for your realistic convincing! ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Holiday Themed Wedding Ideas!

As we celebrate Memorial Day and remember those who have fallen while in the military service I am so thankful for our freedom. We are free to celebrate lives milestones with our family and friends. We may take this honor for granted but because of the men and women who have fought for this country we can be free. On this day take a moment to remember all of the families who continue to mourn the loss of their loved one and those who are still fighting for our freedoms.Holiday weddings are always very popular. The festive time of year has its own style and you can decorate on a budget very easily.  When planning a holiday wedding try and plan a year in advance. Due to the holiday many of your favorite locations may be closed or already booked. Take advantage of the holiday décor that your ceremony or reception location might already have up in the venue. So many establishments will deck the halls for you. Don't forget about your guests. Most of your guests will have to be away from their families. You may want to check with some of your guests prior to booking a holiday wedding. Be sure to send our save the date cards so they have plenty of time to make arrangements for your big day.I put together some holiday themed wedding ideas for you to view. Enjoy your time with your families and friends today and take some time to remember why we celebrate this day.……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Eventful is a blog written by Sarah Goude the Owner and Event Specialist of Regalo Design, a wedding planner in Nashville, TN. Regalo Design can provide all of the following by not limited to: Event Planning.
