Zeus Grill & Seafood

1.0

By Leeannlarue at Citysearch

My family and I are in town for the Little League World Series. We really wanted good seafood tonight. We drove down to Mt. Pleasant, SC and we found Zeus Seafood. So we stopped in. We sat down and the server took our drink order. She brought back our drinks and while we were ordering, she kept rolling her eyes because we would ask her what sides were available. We finally got our food ordered which was very difficult because of the managers' (possibly owner) children were having a swim team banquet. They were extremely loud! We got our salad. It was a small bowl of lettuce, A tomato, 1 cucumber, 1 pepper, and some bean thing that stunk bad. Then we got our soup. I will say the soup was good. \t\nHowever, the service was bad. I actually had to get up to find someone for drink refills. Then, our food came. I had ordered bacon wrapped, crab stuffed, shrimp $18.95. I took 1 bite and I gagged. I sent it back. My husband had a seafood platter $20, his fried oysters were raw. My son had the child's spaghetti $6.95. The noodles were raw and the sauce was water. My daughter ordered steak & shrimp $20.00. Her steak was supposed to be medium well, it was bleeding! We sent that back to be cooked more. They brought it back and it was so dry and burnt you would need a saw to cut it. She didn't eat that. My older son had grilled shrimp. It was tough but he ate it $18.00 and my daughter had the child's grilled shrimp & $6.95. \t\nWe were at a "nice" restaurant and it sounded like a day care because the banquet rooms' door's were left opened. There was over 100 people screaming and yelling the entire time. THEN there were these 3 little boys who kept RUNNING around our table and screaming playing tag. The server at 1 point was literally chasing them! She was screaming, "Boys, NO RUNNING!" So we are thinking that they are some random customers kids being wild and out of control. THEN, she tells us those kids, were the managers!!!!!!!!!! REALLY? \t\n\t\nSo after we have sent back the majority of our food, the server asks me if I would like some more bread since I didn't eat. I responded, "No. Actually I just want to leave. I was shaking so bad." She said, "I will get your bill." So we get our bill. It's $108.00!! I said, "I am not paying $108.00 when we didn't eat the majority of our food. The manager was called over. He was rude and said he would get the main manager (or owner, the one who's children was running around like it was a jungle gym.) So he comes over and says, "You will pay the bill. Your bill was $130 but I took off 1 meal. So you will have to pay the $108." I said I felt that was stealing from us since the quality of food was so horrible that we couldn't even eat it. He said, "I have dealt with people like you before. People of YOUR KIND." WHAT? People of my kind? Just what is people of my kind? That's a question I would still like answered!\t\nSo anyway, the police were called by both of us. But my children got very upset by this. So we paid $90 and left. However, I feel that our money was basically stolen since we didn't eat $30 worth of food. Not to mention the atmosphere was absolutely horrific. I do NOT suggest this restaurant to anyone EVER!!!!!! ...read more

Water's Edge

We went here the other night with a large group. The service was good, but the food had few highlights and you could tell it wasn't fresh. Our group tried most of the items on the menu. My husband and I tried the fried oysters, portabella mushroom, and bruschetta appetizers. The oysters were very good, and the bruschetta was so so. The mushroom was just gross and we sent it back and she would get us a plain one. When it came out it still tasted flavored, almost like they were purchasing premade food. For my entree I had the mahi mahi special. My fish was charred in spots and was not fresh caught, but kinda chewy. The orzo that came with it was was just gross. My brother in law had the crab cakes and they came out literally black on the bottom. My niece had crab legs and they came out still partially frozen. I had bread pudding for dessert and it was a very dry hard brick. So hard in fact that it wouldn't even absorb the sauce that was around it. My mother in law had the banana's foster crepe and said it tasted nothing like bananas foster and was more like a banana simply wrapped in a tasteless crepe. My nephew had the vanilla bean creme brulee and he wouldn't eat it. Thats saying alot since he usually loves it and he is 10. The location was really really lovely and they seemed to be busy, but I am not sure why. Overall, I would not recommend anyone wasting their money here. Go somewhere else where the seafood is actually fresh. ...read more
