Electric City Playhouse was given property in downtown Anderson, SC to build a new theatre. It is an old structure that has been a cavity and in need of some demolition, architectural feasibility studies, and confirmed plans to be drawn. The City of Anderson would prosper in seeing this structure in the downtown, as more than a theatre, but as a cultural center, a meeting place, a draw of interest for entertainment. These are times for tighter holds on resources. This is an opportunity to build the downtown commerce and traffic year round. Imagine having a facility where video may be recorded, live performances, film presentations, even corporate training. We now enjoy the beautiful Bleckley Inn. Fresh constructionion of an old building sure to draw interest here. That was a building the City of Anderson helped to deliver. A block away from there, just down the street from the new Mellow Mushroom, next to the FOX restaurant... my eyes can see a theatre, a cultural center, a meeting place, a draw of interest for entertainment ... that needs to begin.
