What does a travel agent do? Why should I go through them? Aren't they just a middle man? Here's our personal experience: Before we became travel agents, we never used a travel agent! We always did massive research, comparing rates, searching for promotions, studying rate code rules, watching for price drops and calling in to get adjustments made when it was to our advantage. Bottom line is, we were really good at finding deals, so we traveled a lot. So much, that friends and family asked us to help them with their travel plans. No big deal, right? We enjoyed it. Then one day in our searching, we found a travel agency that was doing something amazing. Rather than tacking on fees to line their pockets, they had the same price as booking directly with the cruise line plus the added value of onboard credits! We had to learn more. In studying, we found out that cruise lines, resorts, tour providers, etc will often offer incentives to travel agents to promote their product. Passing the incentives on to their clients was an act of integrity on the part of World Travel Holdings and we were impressed. Not only did we see this as a good opportunity to line up with for deals personally, but to pass on to our friends, family, and now our community. This method of acting in integrity in the world of travel has obviously been working! The company as a whole has grown exponentially and it only benefits you the client more! The vendors (cruise lines, resorts, tour providers, etc), are eager to offer more incentives to the companies that have used them in the past. Knowing we were already doing the work of a travel agent except we didn't have access to the extra perks, we decided to pursue the franchise ofDream Vacations. So, here we are in York, PA- a local full service travel agency with small business customer service...AND access to the big company deals from our parent company. Win-WIN! So, after knowing and understanding this, we ask this, "Why wouldn't you put us (travel agents) to work for you?" BUT, don't take my word for it, my biggest tip is this: get 2-3 quotes on a trip from different agencies. Don't tell them you're doing it. How else will you know who is offering you the best rates possible and who is hiding extra fees for themselves? You get 2-3 quotes for things like insurance or home projects, don't you?
