My teacher obviously knew what he was talking about, but I would not in the least call this guy an actual TEACHER. He had absolutely no social skills, in fact, not even halfway into my first lesson this guy made some sexist jokes/references that I found very offensive. Instead of politely, but firmly correcting me on the things I would do wrong like a seasoned teacher should have perfected by this time, it felt more like I was a child being scolded which was once again very offensive. Plus, it seems like this guy has an extreme fear of the road himself and doesn't know how to keep his calm when mistakes are made which in turn just caused more tension for me when driving with him. I've been dancing at Dance Design for the last 11yrs. and can truthfully say that I have no complaints worth degrading the studio or the director. Although the tuition is expensive you have to understand this is a business. My years at Dance Design have been very memorable and allowed me to meet some of my closest friends. I would recommend this studio if you are willing to pay $300 a month just for tuition to be on the competition team.Then travel all over the place and pay for costumes,competitions,and hotel fee's.Also if you are willing to deal with the director who is judgemental,insenstitive,and not supportive of her students.I have gone to this studio for 11 years,and quit the past year,because the director embarrased me beyond words infront of my class.She actually brought me to tears.I just wish that she would retire and that her assistant teacher(Miss Addy)would take over, because she is the most caring,helpful person that I have have ever met.Basically if you do not take the competition classes you will learn barely any technique,because the regular classes only focus on learning their dances for the yearly recital.I would not recommend this studio while the current owner/director is still in charge. ...read more
