About Douglassville, PA
Douglassville is a community in Amity and Union Townships, in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The area was settled by Swedish pioneers from a land grant by William Penn. A few famous historical landmarks in Douglassville include the St. Gabriel's Church, founded in 1720, and the Monocacy Hill Preserve. The church is the oldest in Berk's County, and the preserve is an undeveloped piece of land used for hiking and environmental education. The first settlement in Douglassville was called Morlatton Village, and was situated on the bank of the Schuylkill River. Today, visitors frequent the Mouns Jones house, the oldest documented house in Berks County, having been built in 1716. The biggest schools in the area are Daniel Boone Area High School and Pottsgrove Senior High School.
