Why business owners are still overpaying to accept credit cards!

Like many of you I used to believe that if I wanted to accept credit cards I had little to no choice in how much of my sales went to the credit card processing company. Well to some degree that was absolutely true and still is today, however recent changes to banking laws under the Frank-Dodd legislation changed the face of the industry forever. Specifically the Durbin amendment addressed some of the costs associated with card acceptance and payment processing and set limits on the amount that banks and processors could charge for many of the most common transactions seen by most businesses.     So where is the savings we were all anticipating?  Simply put you have to demand it! The new rules only required the rates be capped at the bank level and those savings were never required to be passed on to the merchants who stood to benefit from the savings. In fact in many cases rather than passing the savings on to the small businesses that needed it most in our current economy the processing companies just pocketed the extra profit! The good news is you can and should take advantage of the savings Durbin offers.Often times you will need to change processors, because your current processor has you under contract  and  would rather NOT give away this new win fall. Also be aware that Durbin did NOT require any processor to offer the savings at all, however the industry is highly competitive and that naturally dictates that a new processor may offer the lower rates in order to win your business.     I personally no longer own my small retail store, but after being taken to the cleaners by a less than honest sales rep for a processor I will not mention by name, I became interested in how it all works. That led me to become a sales rep for a large company that unfortunately was part of the problem, no tthe solution. That experience led me to search high and low in the hope that there was at least one company in the game that was genuinely concerned about the businesses they serve. My search nearly ended with me quitting the industry all together. Folks there are a lot of dishonest players in the game and I had almost resigned myself to the possibility that the entire game was crooked!      Alas thanks to the internet after months of relentless research and countless hours I found a company that was as concerned about the health and well being of small businesses as I am! North American Bancard gave me the opportunity to offer better rates, better service and free equipment! Yep I finally a company that did not want me to sell a $2400 lease on  credit card terminal worth $250. Think about it if you lease a terminal for $50 a month  for 48 months, you will have paid $2400 for that machine and to ad insult to injury you will either have to buy the machine at the end of the lease term or renew it every 12 months indefinitely. I like some of you always thought that was just how it had to be. Not anymore! to learn how much you are overpaying visit my web site at www.getnabnow.com       ...read more
