It was a pleasure to deal with Peter D from Richair. He is very professional and knowledgeable as well. We purchased three Panasonic ac/heating units. They are working beautifully. The installers were extremely proficient and did a great job. Then we had the service technician ensure that the units were working properly. Everyone that we dealt with was personable and very professional. Peter D is always there to answer your questions. What a great guy. Ductless mini splits vs. central air conditioners

A ductless mini split air conditioner is a cost effective alternative to central air conditioning, but it is typically more expensive than a wall or window air conditioner and you need a experienced professional to install a ductless system. Ductless mini splitshave no ducts, they avoid the energy losses and dust accumulation associated with the ductwork of central forced air systems. Duct losses account for upto 30% of energy consumption and more, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic. Accumulated dust is great cause for respiratory illnesses. Ductless air conditionersare easier to install than central air conditioning systems. For example, the connections between the outdoor and indoor units generally need only a two-and-a-half inch hole through a wall. One can locate the outdoor unit as far away as 50 feet from the indoor evaporator depending upon which ductless ac you buy. This makes it possible to cool rooms on the front side of a building or house with the compressor in a more advantageous or inconspicuous place on the outside of the building. In contrast to other add-on systems, ductless air conditioners offer more flexibility in interior design options. The indoor air handlers can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. Floor-standing models are also available fromMitsubishi. Most indoor units have sleek profiles with high tech-looking jackets. Ductless AC is an amenity that has been designed to blend harmoniously with any room in home or office. These high efficiency and high quality systems come in several attractive designs. Unlike window mounted air conditioners, theductless mini split air conditionersare mounted high up on walls, not in windows, freeing up your outdoor views to enjoy.  A Ductless Heat Pump is a device that takes heat from one place and transfers it to another. A ductless heat pump transfers heat by circulating refrigerant through a cycle of evaporation and condensation. This is the same process used in cooling (air conditioners), reversible for the summer and winter months for cooling and heating. You shouldconsider replacingyour old system. It is less efficient or if it will most likely need major repairs in the near future. New ductless mini split systems are at least 60% more efficient than systems built only 10 years ago. Normal wear and tear reduces the efficiency of your existing system, increased energy costs – all contribute to higher utility bills. Paying for an expensive repair can go a long way toward thecost of a new ductless system. For more information on ductless mini split systems visitwww.richair.com ...read more

Sanyo Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioners - Care and Cleaning

For safety, be sure to turn mini split air conditioner off and also to disconnect the power before cleaning. Do not pour water on the indoor unit to clean it. This will damage the internal components and cause an electric shock hazard. Never use solvents, or harsh chemicals when cleaning the indoor unit. Do not wipe the plastic casing using very hot water. Some metal edges and the fins are sharp and may cause injury if handled improperly; be especially careful when you clean these parts. Clean casing and grille of the ductless indoor unit with a vacuum cleaner brush, or wipe them with a clean, soft cloth. If these parts are stained, use a clean cloth moistened with a mild liquid detergent. When cleaning the grille, be careful not to force the vanes out of place. The internal coil and other components of the ductless outdoor unit must be cleaned every year. Consult your dealer or service center. Anti-mold filter behind the air intake grille should be checked and cleaned at least once every two weeks. To remove the anti-mold filter, grasp both ends of the air intake grille, and remove it by opening towards the front and pulling towards you. Remove the anti-mold filter attached to the rear of the air intake grille. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove light dust. If there is sticky dust on the filter, wash the filter in lukewarm, soapy water, rinse it in clean water, and dry it. To replace the anti-mold filter, with the FRONT mark of the anti-mold filter at the front, align the two indentions near the mark with the hooks at the rear of the air intake grille, and then mount the anti-mold filter. Allow the edge of the air intake grille to slide into the top of the indoor unit, and then insert it all the way inside. To attach the air intake grille to the indoor unit, press its bottom right and left corners as well as its bottom center into place. Attach so that the round pins at the top right and left corners of the air intake grille are inserted into the grooves at the top right and left of the indoor unit. The air clean filter removes dust and dirt from the air, and reduces odors and smoke from tobacco. This air clean filter cannot remove harmful gases or vapors nor ventilate air in the room. You must open doors or windows frequently when you use gas or oil heating appliances. Otherwise there is a risk of suffocation in extreme cases. The air clean filter should be sucked to remove dust in low fan speed of a vacuum cleaner once every three months. If there is heavily grime on the filter, soak the filter in lukewarm water with neutral detergent diluted 1:500 for 1 to 2 minutes then wash it. Rinse the filter in clean water, and then let it dry on the towel in room temperature. Do not bend nor give excessive force onto the air clean filter. If the filter surface is heavily blocked with dirt or damaged, replace it with new one. To purchase a replacement filter call us at 718 285-6953 or stop-by our showroom. To clean the main unit and remote control unit wipe clean using a soft, dry cloth. To remove stubborn dirt, moisten a cloth in warm water no hotter than 104 °F, wring thoroughly, and then wipe. The air intake grille can be removed in order to wash it with water. Clean the grille gently using a soft sponge, or the like. Then wipe away any remaining moisture. Neutral detergent may be used to remove stubborn dirt. Then rinse thoroughly with water and wipe away any remaining moisture. Follow the steps below when the negative ion generator has become dirty. Remove the dust on the negative ion generator - use a toothbrush to dust off the end, use a cotton swab to clean around the generator inside the plastic case, taking care not to touch the electrodes. Do not apply excessive force while performing maintenance. Note that during use, the negative ion generator and other metal parts may become discolored; this is normal and not indicative of malfunctioning. If the dirt on and around the negative ion generator is left to build up, a puffing or sputtering sound will eventually be heard. In this case, clean the generator immediately.
