Ah, the life of a Christmas Revels producer is a diverse one. Today was about artists contracts, writing fundraising letters, meeting with the concessions committee, searching for the perfect ornament, a visit to the Village Light Opera costume sale and finally, some word-smithing of the script. And then there is the delight of learning all there is to learn about the Irish immigrant experience--the music, stories, dances and traditions. Now that evening is here I am reading Yeats' Irish folk tales. What is in store for tomorrow? Calling potential talent and tradition bearers for advise and suggestions, visiting Ellis Island for more research, selling tickets, working on the program book, and it goes on and on!
