Strategies for a soft market.

Almost everyone I speak to these days is worried about the market. Buyers are apprehensive and sellers are desperate. This need not be the case. The most effective remedy for the current malaise is a healthy reality check. The good news for sellers is that a properly priced home will still sell very quickly. Buyers are looking for value. You may not think the price you're getting is stellar, but if you've had your home for more than 4 years, you'll still walk away from the closing with a decent sized check. The good news for buyers is that there are some great values popping up every day. Make the offer. Most sellers are quite willing to negotiate. In order to take advantage of this market buyers need to narrow their sites and focus in on the basics-- style, size, location, schools, price. Get clear on what you want, and don't run around looking at everything. Kicking tires will get you nothing but confused and overwhelmed. Don't be a victim of the paralysis of analysis. Here in Central New Jersey there are many fine homes for sale at great prices. The school districts are amongst the best in the state, and the lifestyle is super. Lots of recreation, shopping, arts & cultural events, and incredible places to eat and drink. Princeton, Lambertville, Pennington, Hopewell, Clinton, and Flemington all offer excellent services ad easy access to public transportation and commuting corridors. Each of these towns also offers an excellent business environment... come start your new venture! ...read more
