When it comes to selling a new product I'm a big believer in "Knowing Your Competition". Please keep in mind knowing your competition and bashing the competition are two different things. <strong>I think its very unprofessional to bash another company and there are two very important reason why.</strong> 1. It makes you look desperate. 2. It can make the customer feel bad if they've done business with the company in the past or currently. With that said, I do believe you should know everything possible about the competition; again for two main reasons. 1. You will learn more about your own product by comparing it to others out there. 2. When clients ask you questions about the competition you can give honest, ethical responses. This goes a long way to earning a clients trust. So today when I got home I started researching what I think will be our main competition; Ameriplan. I will start with the dental and add to the information as I learn more. I will provide links to all the information I gathered but for ease of this blog I condensed it into one table. <a href="http://xpresshealthcare.us/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Xpress-Healthcare-vs-Ameriplan-Dental.xlsx" target="_blank">The table wouldn't fit probably in this post so instead I've made it a link so you should be able to download it for your own use.</a> <strong>There are a few important things I need to point out about this table.</strong> 1. The average costs are for the Southwest Missouri area. I couldn't find prices on a few of the items. You can review this information <a href="http://www.bracesinfo.com/dentalcosts/us/mo/springfield-mo.html" target="_blank">here</a>. 2. The AmeriPlan Fee's are taken directly from their <a href="http://www.ameriplanusaprovidersearch.com/FeeScheduleGeneral.aspx?Zip=65804" target="_blank">website</a>. 3. The <a href="http://mfba.xpressabo.com" target="_blank">Xpress Healthcare</a> Fee's are taken directly from our <a href="http://www.carexpresshealth.com/Carexpresshealth/providersearch.htm#" target="_blank">website</a>. Zip code I used was 65738. 4. The fee amount in the ( ), are what the fee would be with the 20% off the average cost. So when you first review this table it looks like a Periodic Oral Evaluation with <a href="http://mfba.xpressabo.com" target="_blank">Xpress Healthcare</a> would be more expensive, but this is very misleading. Since Ameriplan has a maximum fee on this service of $62 you would have to pay the difference on anything above this amount. The average cost in this area is $76.02, which is a $14 difference. If you take the $12 plus the $14 your out of pocket would be less with <a href="http://mfba.xpressabo.com" target="_blank">Xpress Healthcare</a>. Most people will not be aware of this and it's something you should make them aware of. You see some huge differences on the more expensive procedures. With <a href="http://mfba.xpressabo.com" target="_blank">Xpress Healthcare</a> saving you an extra $1518.31 on braces.
