I am such a novice here in cyberspace....however, I am making my first attempt at a blog for all of you! The restaurant is flourishing these days (most of you know, my fiance, Jeremy =and soon to be husband=3 more weeks! bought the Rainbow less than 6 months ago). A little history, for those of you that aren't as familiar - the historic Rainbow Cafe has been here, in the same beautiful brownstone since 1942. Jeremy and I fell in love the minute we walked in the front door one January afternoon. I could already picture our children behind the counter, telling the locals the story of how their parents met - 2 local chefs met working for sister restaurants -the (former) Broadstreet and City Cafes. How our passion for all things food brought us (complete opposties) together. Even with an upcoming wedding, it was a challenge we were ready to take on with everything we've got. We have experienced great response, even in our infancy, we feel so blessed. Our locals are wonderfully supportive and we have been drawing a large Rochester (and even Minneapolis) crowd, not to mention the travelers...I love the Saturday afternoons when I get to chat about travels with the cyclists coming from the Douglas Trail, as well as those who have just discovered us out on a drive through this beautifully historic town, Pine Island, which we now call home. I'm having so much fun playing with the wine and beer lists, too! This is one of my passions (as well as my pastries, as always, I make them from scratch every morning - gosh, the ice cream has been a bigger hit than I could have possibly imagined). I do nightly specials on bottles, as well as pairings with some of Jeremy's wonderful entrees. I invite you to check out our menu - I think most would be pleasantly surprised, by quality, as well as price. And just wait until we get some of the new beer I am playing with now. A wonderfully dark porter with my fabulous flourless chocolate torte is sure to win anyone's heart! We have a great staff, whom I will introduce in one of my next journeys here. Until then, thank you for your support!
