My daughter went in Hollywood Beauty Supply on 23765 Greenfield Rd, Southfield, MI, (248) 569-3777!!! Today around 12:15-12:30pm Saturday June 22,2018 and purchased 3 packs of hair totaling $18. She went to her 1pm appointment and discovered that she had the wrong hair. She could not drive back there because she would have lost her appointment time so instead she waited after her hair was styled then took the hair AND receipt back to the store for an exchange ONLY because these stores do not give a refund. She returned at 4:30pm the same day and the receipt says not refund but exchange or store credit with receipt. When my daughter went to the counter they told her no and that it was a final sale. This Freetress hair is popular and was NOT on sale. They would not take the hair back on exchange for other merchandise as indicated on their receipt. My daughter and I love this beauty supply because they typically have everything we look for. I’m very disappointed with the customer service and the misleading lie that’s on their printed receipt. I went in and was happy to find a salon that offered braiding that was clean and English speaking. m the beginning I felt as though they didn't want to service me because of the fullness of my hair . and the proof is in the outcome. I showed my stylist Chanelle what I wanted. the end resulted looked nothing of the sort. I felt as though she rushed and gave me a horrible hair do. when I saw it I was unhappy but I still paid her plus tipped her. I thought I could live with the hair style but when I got home I looked at it and hated it. when I called her she said she will fix it. then the day before the appointment she called to tell me she would charge me to redo it. SWAANK SALON IS A RIP-OFF!After extensive research I decided this salon would best suit my needs for a hair weave. I called the salon and reached a stylist named Theresa. I explained what I wanted and and even made a trip to the salon prior to scheduling to explain what I wanted, Theresa emailed a few pictures from her hairstyle portfolio and I must admit I was very impressed. I confirmed my appointment for 9:30 am the next day and she was prompt, courteous and did a thorough job on my hair weave. Here is where the RED FLAG started to wave,the cost was never discussed nor were there any prices listed in the salon or on their brochure for various services. I shared photo's of exactly how I wanted my hair style. Not only did I not receive the straight style I requested with a full bang but the hair weave was bulky, the cut was bad and to make matters worse Theresa excused herself to pick up her child from day care which resulted in my stay at the salon from 9:30 am - 5:20 pm. She charged me $500.00 and did not make any adjustments for the inconvenience. This did not include the 2 packs of hair for a total of $230.00 for a total of $730.00. This was definitely a case of price gouging as I also felt I was taken advantage of in terms of my cost and time. After this experience, I contacted numerous area hair salons to ask what they charge for the same service and found prices ranged from $75.00 - $250.00 for a full weave. The small abount of color that was added which did not match certainly would not have made up the difference. I asked Theresa about the maintanance on the weave and she replied "I don''t know, I just put the hair in", nor could she recommend a place to purchase the hair after she advised during the consultation I could purchase the hair from the shop. My experience at SWAANK SALON was poor and unprofessional. THIS WAS THE WORST WEAVE I have ever received and after 3 days I was wearing a skull cap over this disasterous hair do. I never usually write reviews, but this was needed to be known and expressed......PLEASE DO NOT WASTE your money at this salon. The owner Lauren is so unprofessional and have respect for her clients she booked and scheduled for herself. I went up to the shop a week or two in advanced to have an appointment there with her and when I arrived on time she was not there, her aunt and mother called her for an hour and she ignored them. I ended up getting my hair done by another stylist at the shop and her braids were extremely loose and didn't even last 3 weeks. My experience at this salon was appalling at best. Despite, the fact I confirmed my appointment 2 hours prior upon my arrival Lauren the owner who scheduled my appointment acted like I was a walk in client and it took her ten minutes to remember I had an appointment. Once Lauren realized she over booked herself as there were numerous people waiting she no longer wanted to do my hair. She then had the nerve to have her mother who not a stylist sew a terrible weave into my hair which I promptly had to spend more money the following day to correct. First off, let me say that Lauren is a fabulous stylist! She does the best weave I've ever had! But at what cost? Twice I made an appointment, and when I got there they didn't have my hair! One of those two times they didn't even have my appointment recorded and i didn't get my hair done at all...AFTER taking off work to be there!! I took of work today to get my hair done for a wedding despite my reservations, and despite the issues I've had in the past and I was let down yet again. The morning of my appt (today), I received a call "confirming my appointment". The person confirmed the type of hair I wanted...then calmly stated " oh, I don't think we have it"! This was after I made the appointment a month in advance and confirmed with them 3 TIMES that all was well prior to my appointment!! So, she calls me back 15 minutes later to say they do have it for me to come on in. I was relieved, and so i went. I got there on time, Lauren was not there. I waited 30 minutes!!! Lauren never showed!! I can only believe that she truly didn't have my hair and was out trying to get it at the last minute. No call to apologize to say she was running late, nothing!! So I left. I'm at a disadvantage, as I'm in my cousins wedding tomorrow. But I'd rather scramble at the last minute than give her unprofessional, no common courtesy having, sucks at customer service behind any of my hard earned money!!! I'll never go back! 1. The assistant didn't properly schedule my appointment 2. Lauren Missed her flight so her aunt had to do my hair 3. It was supposed to take 2 hours but it took 4 4. 3 weeks later my braids are unraveling underneath my sew-in and I have to spend more money to get it redone The one positive is that I felt that Chi-Chi was very friendly and accommodating. To sum it up... they are unprofessional, unorganized, inconsiderate and are not worthy of our money. The website talks a good game, but please don't believe the hype. LAUREN, the owner is a rude narcissistic incompetent person and proof that anyone can own a business. Save a headache and do your research. I love supporting my local black businesses... but they are not worth the phone call. Any positive reviews that you see, was probably written by one of the workers or someone close to them. HORRIBLE. They double book appointments and cancel without a phone call. You have to call to find out that your appointment is canceled.. smh.. I only wish that had one in Chicago. They use quality hair and they do a fantastic job. To an untrained eye, you can't tell it's a weave. My daughter has gotten great compliment on a job well done. She is able to do her own hair and has saved me :) For what I paid to get her hair done, which included the hair, they charge just for doing her hair, which means I still have to buy the hair---rediculious.
