Traveling Tips That Will Save Your Sanity

Going on a vacation can be a fun experience, as long as you are prepared for it properly. In the following article, you will be provided with valuable tips to help ensure that your vacation is enjoyable. Use these tips fromhttp://brightoncitychauffeur.com/the next time that you are going to be traveling. When traveling to poorer or less-developed areas, avoid touching any of the local animals. This obviously includes farm animals, but also covers stray cats and dogs as well as draft or pack animals. You never know what diseases these animals could be carrying, and chances are you don't have the same immunities as the locals. Young women traveling alone may want to invest in a simple gold plated band or cubic zirconium ring. Wear the ring on your left ring finger which signals that you are married or engaged. This keeps potential suitor at bay and gives an excuse for unwanted attention in hotels, airports and buses. While it may seem a tad dishonest, it can keep you from getting hit on if you are alone in unfamiliar places. Tip your concierge! Whether it be on a cruise or at a hotel, your concierge will be your go-to guy for reservations, directions and almost everything else! Many concierges have admitted that if someone is willing to tip them well, they will go out of their way to make sure those great tippers, have a fantastic time. You always want to make sure there is a barf bag accessible to you. People can become nauseous and throw up at the drop of a dime on an airplane. Even if you are not feeling ill, you never know how the person sitting next to you is going to react to the turbulence. If you are staying at a hotel while traveling, be sure to figure out where all of the emergency exits are located. You never know when there might be a fire drill or even a fire. Your map reading skills aren't going to be at their best when you are woken by the alarm at 4 AM, so it's better to know in advance. Drink plenty of water. Many doctors say that the primary reason people get sick on long flights is dehydration. Cabin air is very dry and in an enclosed space, germs travel much easier. Protect yourself by staying hydrated by drinking lots of water and juice and you may stave off the cold that the woman, three rows back is sporting. To avoid paying high airport prices for snacks and food, make sure to pack your own bag of treats before you leave home. Pretzels, crackers, trail mix and dried fruit, are all great airplane snack ideas. If you bring your own, you won't have to pay an arm and a leg for snacks at the airport or on board the plane. Pay special attention to the holidays of the countries you are traveling to. Different countries celebrate different holidays, and if you do not know when these are, you can give yourself a headache. Many restaurants and businesses will close on holidays, so look them up before you travel to save yourself the trouble. When you land in Berlin, make sure you invest in a "Welcome Card." This handy little card can open up a bunch of venues and adventures for you. This affordable card contains access to free public transportation, gives you discounts for sights, tours, events, museums, restaurants, and many more things. You can save time in the security line by purchasing a Clear Security Pass. Many large airports, and a few smaller one, are offering this high-tech pass to pre-screened travelers. The initial cost can save a traveler hours spent in security lines and the stress associated with the normal screening process. Bring a disposable camera with you when you travel. Although many people these days use digital cameras, disposable cameras are more convenient. You do not have to worry about charging them, and because they do not require a memory card, you do not have to worry about the pictures being deleted or ruined. Be sure to remove airline tags as soon as possible after a flight. Leaving old destination tags on a suitcase is one of the major causes of lost bags. Do not take the risk of baggage handlers scanning the wrong tag and causing your bag to end up in a different airport than you. Always write down or print out your confirmation numbers. Make sure you are not left scrambling to find tickets or lodging at the last minute by keeping careful track of reservation confirmation numbers. If you are not given one, be sure to ask and double check that it is not necessary. Doing so ensures you have proof that you indeed have a reservation instead of having to rely on your word. Before you travel, make a stop at your family doctor's office. Discuss what vaccinations you may need to get, and what other biological hazards exist in the place you are going to visit. This will give you a good general idea of what to be cautious about, and help you to avoid places that could get you into trouble. When traveling by plane, consider taking along an electronic reading device. Using an electronic reader, rather than paper books, means you can pack more reading material in a smaller space. It also means new books will be instantly available to you if you finish the one you have. To capture all of the great memories of your travels on camera, be sure to carry a few extra charged batteries. If you are traveling overseas, you cannot always be sure your charger will work, or that the adapter will fit the plugs. Batteries are small and light weight, so save yourself the hassle of finding disposable cameras by taking an extra battery or two. As It was stated in the beginning of this article, the best way for your vacation to go smoothly is for you to be prepared for it. Use the advice that this article has given to you to make sure that your vacation goes smoothly. Remember to have fun while away! ...read more
