My daughter took her car to Mobil 1 Lube Express (Knoxville, Peoria) for a standard oil change. All well and good until I attempted the NEXT oil change myself. While trying to remove the oil drain plug, I broke a ¼” drive socket. So, I tried again with a ½” drive socket. I couldn’t budge it with all my strength. This tells me that the attendant used an impact socket on the drain plug. Ultimately I had to take her car to a reputable service station to have the drain plug removed because I thought Mobil 1 Lube had stripped the threads. I guess for those who never change the oil themselves; it may seem like no big deal. But I’m telling my daughter to never use Mobil 1 Lube again! ...read more
