Ellsworth is a village in Dawson Township, McLean County, Illinois known for its biking, boating and camping. Major attractions include Children's Discovery Museum and Grady's Family Fun Park. Each year in the spring season there is the Spring Bloom Art Festival. Among the biggest companies in Ellsworth are Century Software Systems and Doyle Oil Company. The biggest schools here are Leroy Junior High School and Cornerstone Christian Academy. One of the best places to visit when you are in Ellsworth is the Moraine View State Park. The town of Ellsworth was named after Col. Elmer E. Ellsworth, a Union officer considered to be the first casualty of the Civil War.

These people really care about me and my horses. They have strict enforcement of barn policies and remove riders and boarders who don't follow them. At the same time, the operator (Jeanie) is friendly and fun. She is very knowledgable about horse care, nutrition, and western pleasure riding. The barn has become so popular they have added additional pastures and shelters this spring to accomodate the additional boarders. There was some fencing down this winter due to the blizzards and ice storms, but things were repaired as soon as possible. They also have lots of family friendly barn events, including weiner roasts, potlucks, and horse games. If you like horses, dogs, kittens, and goats, you'll love this place. ...read more

Here are some observations I've made of the place: 1. Horses without access to water, ie. frozen water in winter, empty troughs in summer. These are not isolated incidents. 2. The hay is absolutely garbage. I've seen horses with access to only extremely moldy hay. 3. The fences are unsafe, ie. electric wires not working, wires down in pastures. 4. Baling twine rampant in pastures with horses dragging it around on their legs. 5. Too many horses in a pasture without adequate access to small shelters. 6. Children allowed to ride without helmets. 7. People riding horses in the barn aisle. I wouldn't trust this barn with my Breyer horse. I'd like to add that the people at the barn were always friendly, but in my opinion there are more horses there than the facilities can handle, thus the help is overwhelmed. Unless you can visit your horse daily and are knowledgeable enough to keep on top of the things I pointed out above, it's not the place for you. ...read more

Doyle's were so helpful when I needed a tow. Doug came out and helped me out and he had a very reasonable rate as compared to what I was looking at if I had chosen another company. I think that they were very helpful. I loved the fact that they didn't just tow my vehicle either. They took the time to clean my windows and check the other general functions of my car...aka checked my oil levels and my window cleaning levels free of charge! Thank you doyle's. ...read more
