For years we have been going to Carbondale Hearing Center for fitted ear plugs for my son. Our recent visit we were in and out with the ear plugs ordered. I received a call 2 days after the visit stating that they recently had a billing change and that the ear plugs would not be ordered until I paid in full and that they would send in a claim to my insurance as a favor to me to have payment directed from the insurance company to me. I just got off the phone with a claim representative with Healthlink that stated the provider is a contracted provider and was not nor should not be charging the patients without having an explanation of benefits from the insurance. Now, my claim was sent in without any indication that I paid in full, therefore payment is being sent to the provider. On top of that, they billed a different date then when we were there.
