Yellowstone Horses

Yellowstone horses was great with my young kids who originally were very excited to ride a horse until they actually came face to face with one when we arrived at the ranch. The guides and staff were very patient, and the horses were so gentle that my kids quickly got over their nervousness. Beautiful trails! We loved every minute. ...read more

Elk Creek Station

5.0

By Ray

I was stranded In West Yellowstone Montana and needed a tire, it was a Sunday and nobody in West Yellowstone was willing to help. I called Joe at the Elk Creek Station(Idaho) a half hour drive away and he was willing to give up his time off and get me a tire mounted and at a Fair price. I would have been stranded another day paying $178 for another nights stay in West Yellowstone had he not been willing to come in and save our butts on a Sunday! Very gratefull and love the people in Idaho! My family was able to complete our vacation and enjoy the remainder of the trip. Thanks JOE! ...read more

It's getting closer to the time to ride in the mountains

It's getting closer to the time that we can take rides up into the mountains,  There is only about 18 inches of snow left down here on the lower part of the ranch and it's melting fast. If you have your snowmobile when you come to Island Park you can still ride it all right but you'll need to plan on rough trail until you get up past the Forest Service gates.  Because the snow level was below normal this year we should have usable trails by the last week-end in May.  See you in a few weeks. ...read more

Horseback Rides in the Montana Mountains

This is a new experience for me; I've never been involved with blogging before!  If what I'm doing is stupid or out of line, I'm sorry. I know that a person needs to take advantage of the mass media whenever possible.     We think our horseback rides in the mountains are among the most beautiful in the world! We ride along The Continental Divide near Idaho, Wyoming, and Idaho. The trails are steep but not dangerous.  We ride up on the high mountain ridges and down into the deep ravines; we usually see wildlife and even in late summer there are still wild-flowers blooming up that high! These rides are uniquely tailored to the rider's specific preferences; we conduct our rides to satisfy the desires of the guests and this includes things like the rate of travel.  However, there usually will be some trotting on the morning rides. Numerous different areas are offered on the afternoon trips. These areas range from high mountain, steep trails to lower mountain and meadow trails.  They can follow the streams that flow down from The Continental Divide or they can travel back into the heavy forests. Because of the vast area available, your guide will strive to give you the type of trip that you want including how much time you actually want to spend in the saddle.  The actual time on the afternoon ride is often a little longer and we spend more time enjoying the beautiful country and taking pictures.   While riding across the meadows, we will usually ride among the cattle. ...read more
