Whidby Jewelers

5.0

By Brent Patterson

After visiting numerous other jewelery stores that all went above my budget, the employees of Whidby helped me stay under my budget and get the perfect engagement ring for my fiancee. This was the ONLY store that was willing to work with my budget. My fiancee told me she wanted a ring from a small business (not a chain store), and this is the perfect place. The ring had to be re-sized, which they did for free. After getting re-sized, there was a small bend in the band of the ring, so we took it back to the store and the owner himself was going to a jewelery show in Los Vegas where he would see the owner of the manufacturer of the ring and give it to him to be fixed, rather than send the ring in the mail to his office in New York where it would sit for a week. Their employees were very interested in helping as much as possible. They are kind and personable. I would recommend this store to anyone interested in purchasing a quality piece of jewelery for good prices and great service. ...read more

I was recently in Whidby Jewlers and was greated by the most helpful staff I have seen in a long time. Customer service is harder and harder to get these days and I was so pleased to find it here. I had a repair to be done and they promptly took the piece and told me what would be required to get it back in good shape. While I was there I looked around and fell in love with a ring. Before long I was headed on my way with a new ring (it didn't cost much so my husband won't mind) and soon I will have my necklace back. I had to write a note because, the store just made me feel so welcomed and confortable. This is what good OLD FAHION customer service is about, people who genuinely seem like they care and they proove it by their actions. They are also having this crazy thing where if it rain on New Years Day they will pay for my purchases. My husband definately needs to hear about this. I hope he gets the hint. He likes a good bet so it may just work. All in all, I would be sure to check out this store if you need jewelry of any kind they really know what they are doing. ...read more

This uptight store is the worst jewelry store that I have ever encountered. At best this store can provide a good comparison for what not to do and be a benchmark for what a good deal you can be getting from other jewelry stores. After years of business from my family, the store was supposed to hold a necklace that was on sale for one week until I returned from a business trip. The necklace was sold and I was offered, in compensation, another necklace at FULL PRICE. What would be the point of that?! That was their best solution, as they claim they did not mean to tell me that they could hold anything on sale because when they hold something, people don't come back to buy it. So, even though the store owner knows my family and we buy from them continually throughout the years, they refused to hold an item. When I told the owner about what happened, he told me that that's company policy and he couldn't do anything about it. I responded, "What do you mean??! It's YOUR company. You are the one who made up that rule!" He had nothing to say, so he just repeated it. Even though he acknowledged the fact that my work "may be good" and my family does give them business. My friend was turned away because she did not want to buy an item from them... She was told that she should take her business elsewhere. While she was getting turned away, another lady was being told that "she didn't have time to answer all of her questions regarding a pearl necklace she wanted to have re-done." One of my friends got her antique engagement ring (handed down through her husband's family) resized and two of the diamonds fell out. Whidby did not tell them this happened, until she came to pick it up and was told that two lesser quality diamonds were put in their place! They charged me $186.00 to resize my engagement ring and wedding band. Which I was told by a good friend who works at a private company and worked years at Bailey Banks and Biddle, that any jewelry store that charges over $40 for resizing is overcharging you. Plus, my ring was not done correct and resized too small. Also, I have researched many of their items, which are overpriced by far. So, basically, if you want to get ripped off and treated like you don't matter, then this is the store for you! ...read more
