So what do you do if you own a domain hosted somewhere else, but you want to transfer it to your MidGaHosting.com account? This is a bit trickier - and these instructions are going to be a bit vague because every domain company works things slightly differently. As is true of everything else in life, this process is made more complicated because of dishonesty - there are several checks and balances put into place to prevent dishonet people from hijacking your domain! log into your control panel where your domain is hosted. if you can't remember , nose through your old email stash, because you probably have an email with that information somewhere! Somewhere in your control panel is an option to get an "authorization code". Usually you click a button and the system sends the Auth code to the account holder's email address.NOTE: If you changed any account information recently - like the owner's email address - you won't be able to transfer the domain for seveal weeks. Create your account on MidGaHosting.com and select the "use a domain i own" option. if you already have an account, go into your control panel (midgahosting.com and click on "members"), click into the Domain manager, and select the "transfer a domain" option. As part of the process you will be asked to type in (or copy/paste) the authorization code you got in step 2. Once you submit the order, the two companies (or 4 or 6 - but you don't really care HOW many companies are involved) communicate about the transfer. keep checking your own'ers email box, because you will be sent at least 2 emails asking you to confirm the transaction - usually one from the current "domain registrar", and one from the new one. After you confim the transaction successfully, it usually takes a couple of days for things to completely finish transferring. Any questions?
