04/28/2010-12:55 pm I went to Jay Bird Springs in the spring of 1959 with my seventh grade class. I loved the rink but my heart was with the steam-powered miniature train that they had. I JUST LEARNED THAT JAYBIRD SPRINGS HAS CLOSED. I HAVE LOTS OF MEMORIES OF CHURCH PICNICS, BIBLE SCHOOL PARTIES AND FAMILY REUNIONS THERE. MOST RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN A FAVORITE DAY TRIP FOR MY HUSBAND AND MY YOUNG NEPHEW. I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER THERE THIS SUMMER. I just found out JBS was closed!!! I am soooo sorry they are out of business. We loved it there!!! For the past 4 years we have visited Denise and spent many weekends @ Jay Bird Springs. It was like home away from home. My family and I have spent time there on a mini-vacation as well as visited there with our church youth group. We have had loads of fun there, spent lots of quality time there with family and friends. It is a shame Jay Bird had to close down, the place was a very unique family oriented place with lots of things to do. Swimming, waterslide, skating, putt-putt, pool tables & game room, nature trail...also the motel & cabins were always top-notch. It was the perfect hideaway spot to go for a nice relaxing time away from home. Let's don't forget Denise and her gang were the best hostess'.
