OMG worst rip off ever! Took my PC in to get ITunes working again, seemed to have a simple error message and I was told if they could not fix the problem they would refund the $69.99 I paid upfront with the option of a re-install of my entire computer software for $199. Two days later and no word I stopped in to check their progress and they hadn't done a thing to fix my problem but instead I found later when I got my machine home that it wasn't working AT ALL, I couldn't get onto the internet or retrieve my email because of what they had done, even Brighthouse couldn't get me up and running again! Worth mentioning too that they rebuked their agreement to refund my money as well? Finally after asking to speak to the manager the "Geek" working on my computer was told to refund me and he did so without any apology (of course this was before I found out that they totally trashed my computer which short of my problem with ITunes was working perfectly in every other way! ...read more

After doing some looking around, I narrowed my choices to uptech and spectacular computer repair. I first stopped in at spectacular commuter repair to see how much it would be to fix my computer. I couldn't get out of there quick enough.. Overpriced.. High pressure sales, and just plain rude "texting on phone while I explained my problem". So I came to up tech, and I ended up paying half the price and did not feel pressured at all. My computer was fixed in a timely manner, and was notified of it's progress. It's almost scary how much this guy knows about computers. My hard drive needed a test program to run on it for 40 hours before he could make sure all the issues were found. Gary was patient & assured me he could save my computer files. Well, he was right & I want people to know it. His shop does not over charge like so many. He looks for the right part - not just one he has in stock that would be okay. He wants to get it right the 1st time & not have you come back again for the same issue. ...read more

Have you ever noticed that as time goes by your computer you bought just doesn't seem to be running as quickly as when you first bought the machine? Computers are kind of like a home, unless they are cleaned and maintained regularly they can get junked up with last weeks garbage. Formatting the hard drive is one of the quickest and easiest ways to help. Because the typical hard drive uses a physical magnetic arm to gather data from the disk, the physical location of data on the platter can have a significant impact on the speed at which your drive can read information. As time goes by, files get moved and new programs are installed and others are uninstalled, bits and pieces of different files can get scattered around the drive and that's what we call "Fragmentation". The goal of defragmenting your computer hard drive is to take all those bits and pieces that are lying around the drive and rearrange them on the platters back in a logical way, allowing the hard drive to retrieve files faster and therefore speed up the computer. Microsoft includes a tool to do this within Windows XP. You can find it by going to: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter Disk Defragmenter will open and allow you the option to "Analyze" any hard drive you have installed on the sytem. This process takes a few seconds and will return with a result that will recommend if you should defragment the drive as well as a more detailed report. Here is a typical result. As the analyzer works it will show you the fragmented areas in red and the contiguous files in blue. When you press the "Defragment" button, the program will begin rearranging as many files as possible into contiguous files thereby speeding up your computer, and hopefully saving you some time and frustration in the process. ...read more
