Be prepared to wait in the Lobby. I have been living in South Pasadena for 20 years. I had an account several years ago with a lock box. Half the time I went in I knew I would have to wait to access my lockbox. Eventually I changed bank but recently returned and opened a new account with them. I was suprised that nothing had changed. Over the past three months I waited in the lobby a good 15 minutes to speak with someone about my account. I watched people leave in frustration on two occasions. The last time I called I was told to make an appointment when the person on the other end could have answered my question over the phone. Customer service is horrible at this bank. We chose equistar to do our mortgage because of the rate they were offering, we did a construction loan in Texas, you can not pay cash. So we did what we thought was a mortgage loan to pay off the construction loan, we have found out Equistar showed it as a home equity loan, shame on us for doing something with people we don't know and were not honest with us. So now we are trying to get a home equity loan and can not without do a re-fi and we have only had this loan 3 years, cost of points etc to re-fi is not a choice we wanted to do.
