Saturday February 4, 2012 2-5pm Todd Patrick&Co.; Salon welcomes Debra O’Hearn “My Journey ~ Embracing Life” This is the story of my personal journey resulting in a heart transplant. My donor was a young woman, Emily Compton. Emily was struck by a car and fatally injured while out jogging in April 2007. She was 29. This body of work is dedicated to her memory. The body of work "My Journey ~ Embracing Life" is currently exhibiting at The Gallery at UNOS, (United Network for Organ Sharing) in Richmond, Virginia. The narrative accompanying each of the twelve photographs tells of my experiences through illness, near-death and recovery due to transplantation. This series will become a permanent display at UNOS headquarters after a 2 month exhibit in the UNOS gallery. I feel especially honored to display this work at the UNOS command center. Inside this building is where every person in the United States in need of an organ transplant is placed on the national transplant waiting list and donors are matched to recipients.
