Bow Eye

With Portable Boat Lift and its second order lever action you are able to tilt up the bow of the boat by the bow eye while supported by stands under the transom allowing enough separation to pull the trailer out from under the boat, between the stands and from under the trapeze. The Portable Boat Lift contacts the bottom of the bow eye in this operation and does not come in contact with the bow. Most all boats will weigh substantially less than half the weight of the boat, at the bow while supported under the transom by design. The Portable Boat Lift has "State Certified Mechanical/Structural Engineering" that has been calculated to lift 2610#'s, WLL (Working Load Limit), with a 1.5 Safety Factor. This is usually more than enough to safely lift most 25 foot long boats or less easily. The bow eye should be installed in accordance with the ABYC from the factory or from a person qualified to install it. The American Boat and Yacht Council states: H-40 ANCHORING, MOORING, AND STRONG POINTS 40.5.3.3 A Bow Eye or Strap, and their points of attachment to the hull shall be able to accommodate a direct tension pull of two times the sum of the weight of the boat and its recommended weight capacity. This means that if your boat weighs 3000#'s (approximately 1000#'s to 1200#'s at the bow eye while supported under the transom) your bow eye is designed to withstand a 6000# direct tension pull or at least two times the sum of the weight of the boat and its recommended weight capacity, which may be more. The bow eye should be installed in accordance with the ABYC from the factory or from a person qualified to install it.You will notice that if your boat or another boat you've seen has a lifting point at the bow in a locker on top of the bow to attach a lifting rope, it has been attached directly to the back side of the bow eye; so tilting the bow up from under the bow eye is in the same vertical plane as lifting it from the top by way of a lifting eye and rope, straight up. The boat needs only minimal separation from the trailer, 1/2" total separation or less, so long as it is clear enough front to back from the trailer to pull it out from under the boat. The Portable Boat Lift beats all other methods used such as bottle and floor jacks and handy tree limbs to remove your boat from your trailer in size, strength, portability, and affordability.Naturally you have to be sure you can perform this work as it is still inherantly dangerous to lift a boat and you'll need to ensure that the attachment points and the Lift are all in good working order. If you're going to do work on your boat or trailer, by yourself, at your house, at your own pace, you may as well have the right tool for the job. Portable Boat Lift!  ...read more
