If you don't want to use a professional chemical exfoliant, like Prepare, there are some very inexpensive options. Besides the ones mentioned in the other article, my recommendation is apple cider vinegar to remove the remnants of a spray tan. This is also what I recommend for night-before tanning skin preparation as apple cider vinegar is a great chemical exfoliant. How to use: While showering, take a washcloth and soak with the vinegar. Turn the water off or away from you while you scrub all over taking care to scrub callouses and dry areas more thoroughly - like elbows, knees and heels for some of us. Then, so as not to smell like salad dressing, give yourself a good rinse - even use some more soap (but not DOVE!) to smell nice again. Remember, a loofah and bath salts are effective exfoliators but they are mechanical, not chemical. I realize my other blog post mentions that I have a new policy where I require a deposit for making appointments. This was brought on by the lack of common courtesy by several people who have made appointments and then either didn't bother to show up or called to cancel last minute as they suddenly decided that they don't have the time. I have yet to enforce this policy as I'd rather people simply behave maturely and respectful. When someone cancels or doesn't show up for an appointment, it not only hurts my income, but it wastes my time where I could be serving someone else or doing something else. As a multiple business owner, this has caused frustration at times when this occurs. I like to think people are more honorable but my airbrush tanning instructors did warn me of the widespread flakiness of a segment of the clientele that gets spray tans.
