Bob is the best! You want someone honest, skilled, and fair when it comes to home inspections. Do yourself a favor and call (239) 220-9785. I am in the service industry (Tempco Pest Control) and place a great deal of value in working with others who possess high technical skill within their trade. I have recommended Bob in the past, as well as, hired him for my personal home inspections. A Firm Foundation Inspections has always gone above and beyond. 5-STAR!!!!! ...read more

DR Screen

I contacted Dr. Screen OVER 2 months ago to have my front door screen replaced with white and a door with dolphins on it. It is just a straight area with no angles or hard areas to get to. Every time I phone them and left a message, they NEVER return the call. I realize businesses can be very busy but after 3 days with no return call I classify that at unacceptable. Then I would call them again and each and every time I spoke to them it was a different excuse as to why my door wasn't ordered or as to the date it was arriving. The last time I spoke with them a few weeks ago, I was informed the door will be in in either a week or two. Today I called (17 times as they have caller ID) and finally they answered the phone and again I was told the door isn't in, perhaps it will be in today's shipment. I voiced my concern as to the story and different excuses I was being told and then they told me perhaps I should go to another company. Don't use this company if you don't want grief! ...read more

DR Screen

We've used Dr Screen for a few years to replace lanai screens damaged by our own accidents and our pets. No job was ever too small and they were usually there the next day to repair it. Last week we decided it was time to replace our 10 year old 'builders grade' pool cage screen with Super screen. Joe and his crew were here bright and early and completed the whole job in 1 day. The estimate they gave us is exactly what they charged and from talking to different people, they have the best prices. They were courteous and efficient and they took the old screen and every piece of scrap with them. They did an excellent job and stand behind their work, not like some of those fly by night companies. We wouldn't use anyone else! ...read more

The Tortoise and The Crane

My son and I were treated very badly during the Holiday Season at the Tortoise and the Crane in Cape Coral..My son spent almost $200.00 on beads and they were not wrapped so I took them back as I had to buy a few beads myself and when I asked her if she could wrap my son's 5 beads because he didn't know they offer this service she was very rude to me..she would not wrap them so I asked if I could have the tissue and ribbon so I could do it and she practically threw it at me...she had no problem wrapping other customers beads though...I don't know what her problem was...then my daughter called to find out why she treated her mother that way and she started hollering at her...She really needs to learn how to treat ALL her customers the same..Shame on her!! I will definately let family and friends know of my experience at this store....How do you treat the elderly in such a manner especially at the Holiday Season...By the way we found out she was also the "OWNER" ...read more

Importance of Power washing in SW Florida

Having a clean home exterior has definite appeal and better resale value. However the real value is the fact that a homeowner will extend the life of all products used like exterior and lanai paints, pool enclosures, etc. In fact, pressure washing is very affordable in terms of future savings on home maintenance. As far as driveways and walkways, concrete is very porous which allows dirt and other debris to bed deep into the concrete, resulting in a situation where high powered commercial pressure washing machines, as well as professional concrete cleaning machines are the only sure means of removal.  Pool areas are important to clean. Not only can the nasty cobwebs and bug debris from the nylon mesh, but also the green&black; mildew / fungus and algae should be removed from the metal framework which extends the life and beauty of the enclosure. We accomplish this task with low to medium pressure by using special "long reach" wands, when needed, along with pressure adjusting valves and tips. Carefully "water sweeping" the mesh clean of debris after using a mild chemical solution to dissolve the organic mold and algae staining right off the metal frame's surface. You can certainly attempt to power wash your home yourself, but If you do not have the proper equipment, know which cleaning products are right for the job, or know how to safely operate a power washer without causing damage to your home, it may be in your best interest to hire a professional to do the job. ...read more

Your Home; The Dangers Of Mold In Homes

MOLD - it's not pretty!MOLD can cause health problems that range from itching eyes, sneezing and coughing to serious allergic reactions, asthma attacks and even permanent lung damage. And what many people do not know is that mold could be growing in their homes right now. Mold in a home is most often found on walls, floors, ceilings, carpets and fabrics exposed to moisture. While mold needs moisture, oxygen, a food source and a surface on which to grow, a mold spore in search of a home can come by those essentials relatively easily, even inside a central air system. That is because such a system constantly circulates mold spores found naturally in the air through parts of the system that often have dust on their surfaces. Once a mold spore has embedded itself in that dust -- which provides the nutrients it needs -- all the spore needs is moisture. And that moisture, can come from condensation produced by the air-conditioning coils and especially from high levels of humidity in the air itself, as we have here in Florida. In most cases the most obvious indication of mold in a home is the presence of dark-colored spots on porous surfaces exposed to moisture. If no obvious signs of mold are visible, it is possible that mold is growing inside a wall or ceiling. If you don't see the mold itself, look for signs of moisture --  leaks from roofs or appliances can saturate the wood, wallboard and insulation in walls and ceilings, creating an ideal incubator. In some situations, small amounts of visible mold on an exterior surface can be removed by scrubbing with a 5 or 10 percent solution of chlorine bleach in water. But... if mold is growing inside a wall, it is more difficult to remove. In some cases, we have to go in with respirators and protective suits and take an entire room down to the studs, removing the interior surface of the walls. Before beginning any mold remediation project, it is critical to make sure that the cause of the problem is corrected. Generally the infiltration of moisture into the house as a result of a leak from the roof, a leak from a faulty plumbing pipes, an appliance or your air system -- is corrected. If water damage occurs in your home, do not waste time – with each day the problem will get worse. Contact us at ‘Hercules’ and contact your home insurance company. As residents of Florida, check to make sure your home insurance has “mold” remediation as part of your coverage, including your central air system. ...read more
