Nice place to eat and stay!

Doe Run Inn is a restaurant and an inn. The restaurant has a really nice patio where you can eat. Also, there is an a dining room inside. If the weather is nice then sit on the patio. You may want to make a reservation on weekends if you wish to sit on the patio. The patio can get very crowded on weekends. The food is ok, but nothing to brag about. The fried chicken and chicken livers are good. The side items, such as potatoes and green beans could be better. The biscuits are really small, but taste good. The atmosphere is really nice. People are invited to go upstairs and look around the rooms in the inn. If the door is left open, anyone can wander in and take a look around. There is an interesting collection of antiques scattered throughout the inn, so take some time and look around. Prices are very reasonable for staying in the inn, but the restaurant is a little pricey. There is plenty of parking, but there can be a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the main building at times.

Doe Run Inn

We had a family event at the Doe Run Inn and it was nice. We had a room to ourselves and were able to have a slideshow and had a very nice time. The food was decent. Not spectacular but not bad either.

Hardesty

Major Disappiontment

Today I made 2 trips to Doe Run Inn (My first and my last). The buffett breakfast considted of: bacon, ham, sausage, hash browns, chunk fried potatos, biscuits, gravy grits, mexican eggs, pancakes, french toast, waffles. all of which lacked flavor and warmth. They also hosted an omlet bar which consisted of 7 items and the omlets were served scrambled egg style. which was cooked by whoever wasn't busy doing something else. Definately not a Chef as advertised on their web page. The web page also boast about the history of the property which they make very feeble attempts to preserve. Mc Donalds and Diary Queen are 2.5 miles away. The food is better and alot cheaper. $40.00 for 2 adults and 1 child breakfast.

Come hungry!

The food was out of this world. Great country cooking, and the best chicken livers I have ever had. Great place to bring the family!

A little piece of Eden in Meade County

This is a great comfort food restaurant. The building is an old mill, 200 years old and has a view of a creek and an island. The inside of the restaurant is rustic and filled with antiques.

They are nothing but comfort food, fried chicken, steaks, country ham, chicken livers, braised brisket, hot browns, etc. There are a choice of 10 sides. Since the new management took over in January, all the food is much improved. They use fresher ingredients and they make everything in house now. The chicken is all cooked to order.

On Sunday, they have a huge buffet with bbq, fried chicken, meatloaf, other meats, soups, salad bar, lots of sides, and lots of desserts. It's pretty good and a lot of church groups and families come in after church. They tell me that there have been generations of families that married here, had their reunions here, and even had their ashes spread on the island. It's really a community resource.

Probably the most overlooked part of the place is the breakfast and lunch menu. They have a ton of choice and you can get in and out a lot quicker than you can for dinner. People from out of state fall in love with this place and they have yearly reservations from people who have to make the trip at least once a year.
