Simple personalization

Ok here is one of the most simpliest ways to make that personalized gift. The cheapest and easiest way to personalize the item is by getting a gift that you want to give that person, would be to paint or special message for that person. You can do this easily with water colors which can be purchased at the dollar store. Apply one coat of finish on the project, polyurethane, varnish, etc. then put your design on the project. When this is done put another coat with Polyurethane or other. That's it, simple and cheap. ...read more

It's the HUMOR TIMES 20th ANNIVERSARY ISSUE & CELEBRATION!

The Humor Times will publish its 20th Anniversary Issue this April! Ads are a great deal in this issue, as we'll be distributing 12,000 free copies of the paper! We had converted to a paid circulation publication a couple years ago, so this free issue will be scooped up fast, as the Humor Times (formerly the Comic Press News) was always a very popular paper when it was free. The deadline is March 16th, so contact us soon to get in on this historic issue! Also, we'll be hosting our 20th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, April 22nd, in conjunction with Access Sacramento, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary! We've got an all-star comedic line-up, featuring the World's Foremost Political Comedian, Mr. WILL DURST! The event will also feature Sister Swing, a vocal jazz trio out of Sacramento, who will perform a few humorous songs for the show; and Keith Lowell Jensen, a local comedian known for putting together the "Coexist? Comedy Tour," which featured comedians of different religious faiths, as well as an atheist (Jensen), and toured around the country last year. A "carnival atmosphere" is planned, with all manner of roving performers to amaze and astound the audience. These will include the Sac City Rollers (the local womens roller derby team); jugglers; a Marilyn Monroe impersonator; and more, to be announced. We're looking for more 'carnival' type performers to add to the festive atmosphere. Know anyone with these performance skills? We'd like any of the following: a magician, clown, mime, face painter, puppeteer, etc, as well as mini-parade participants, which might include members of a local marching band dressed up in carnival outfits, or? Any suggestions? Mark your calendar! (Admission: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.) Advance tickets may be purchased at http://www.humortimes.com/ ...read more

Holi- Daze....

Yes, I feel as though I've been in a bit of a daze...  In such a hurry all the time, so many things to do, so many things to buy, so many people to remember!  This time of year gets so hectic, it can become difficult to remember the real meaning of the Holiday.  For me it should be a time of thoughtfulness.  A time when we think of the ones we love and celebrate what it is about them we enjoy so much.  To give a gift that they will love, that will make them smile and think of us.  I am telling myself each day, "Slow down, take a breath, and remember what you really want to do this season."  On that note, I am offering Gift Certificates.  Email, comment or give me a call for details.  I can provide a beautiful gift certificate you can give to those you love.... As an added bonus, I am giving $10 off to anyone who buys a gift certificate before December 23rd.  That way both you and the person you are giving the Certificate to can get some "down time" to enjoy! Much joy to you, dear clients and readers!  I hope the very best for you this season.  Also, a warm and special thank you for letting me into your lives, even just a bit... "The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof." Richard Bach ...read more

Rock Drumming is harder than Football!

If you ever performed a full-length Rock Show or day-long rehearsal you probably know that drumming can make you tired. But would you expect that drumming in a professional Rockband can be even harder than playing a first-league football (soccer) match? Yeah, you thought something that way but now you can be sure! British scientistsof the Universities of Chichester and Gloucestershire just found out that drummers need to have a condition like sportsmen. They connectedBlondie-Drummer Clem Burke– who had also played with Iggy Pop, Pete Townshend and Bob Dylan – with a number of medical instruments to measure the drummer's physical exertion during a 90min live performance. And then they did the same with the Portuguese football playerCristiano Ronaldo. You know what? Both guys work on the same powerful level! With the only exception that Ronaldo has to play about 40 – 50 matches per year but Clem Burke does at least 100 Live Shows in the same stretch. The leader of the project, Marcus Smith, shows great respect to drummers: "Musicians need to have anextra-ordinary fitnesswhen they're on tour." On pitch/stage Ronaldo and Burke experience anaverage pulse of 140/150 bpmwith peaks at 190. They burn between 400 and 600 calories per hour. And that's the point of the study: Smith and Burke just opened a "Drummer Labor" whereover-weighted teenagers can drum their kilos away. Salute! ...read more

SUMMERTIME BANNERS FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT

There's no better way to your event at a park or elsewhere than with a Vinyl Printed Banner or a  Full color banner printed with Inkjet!   Let's say you have a booth at  special event that you are selling your stuff at--say a custom car event and you sell different types of items for peoples cars.  The best way for people to see you name is with a simple vinyl banner that you hang in front of your booth.     Now--- there's and advantage to purchasing a Vinyl printed banner compared to a Inkjet printed one.  With vinyl--- you can change the phone# or any of the info that you have on the banner.  With an Inkjet printed banner you can't do that because the ink is permanent.   There is a variety of different things you can do with an inkjet banner also.  You would have to incorporate into the design a specific area where it would be white and a place that you would be changing different information..   They have dry-erase vinyl now so you can have that put on the surface of the banner so that you can easily erase and put different info up there.  You can also do this with vinyl printed banners the same way. If you need a printed banner with vinyl or inkjet visit our site  CallBanner.Net  and scroll down to see our different pricing for different types of banners. Please give us a call with any questions that you might have!! ...read more

Celebrate Life!

What a sad couple of weeks we have had!  With the death of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays comes the natural human response... a good hard look at our own lives.  It makes us look at ourselves, our lives, our relationships, etc.  To think about our own mortality and what we really want in life compared to what we are actually getting. I believe we should all live our lives as if today was the last day we have, to enjoy every minute we have here with the ones we love, doing what we enjoy. One of the best ways to rid yourself of the blues is to really celebrate life.  Get together with friends and family, make some art, go see a show, treat yourself to something special! Make an appointment for you and your best friend with me this week, and I will take half-off the cost of one design!  It is my little way of helping you to appreciate life and those you love the most.   "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today." Banners, put them out in the morning and in at night.

Some parts of City and Towns are not strict on banners and others are.  For those towns that are Strict on Banners, you can create different types of set-ups that might keep the these people from making you take your signs down.     Let's say you have a banner that you want to hang from your roof. If you wanted to get elaborate, you could set-up a pully system that is ran by remote infra red such as a garage door opener.  It would work on the same principle as a garage door opener. When you press down the button once, it lowers your banner, when you press down the button again it raises your banner.     Just imagine this.  The guy from the county comes to tell you that you need to take your banner down, meanwhile while he's talking to you, you press the "up" switch button that rolls the banner up and out of site. That way you can ask him-- "what banner?"   And when you go outside with them to have him show you, he will think he is losing his mind!  Call your local Sign Shop for ways to set up your Banners and Sign up for our mailing List Click HERE   ...read more

Summer Time!

Although the first official day of summer (June 21st) has not yet arrived, I think it is safe to say that summer has come to Sacramento. This is the season that made me fall in love with Sacramento my first year here.  I love that there is so much to do, BBQ'ing on the river, camping, rafting, watching the kids play baseball, shopping with friends, heading out to the Drive-In, biking around mid-town,  River Cat's games and weekends in Tahoe. Henna is another great way to cool off in the summer heat.  It is naturally cooling because it draws the body heat to the site of the paste and uses it to activate the dye and increase the stain you get.  There are not many things in life better than putting off that last load of laundry or having the kids load the dishwasher and having me do some amazing henna on you, then spend some quiet, relaxed time laying in the sun while it warms you to the bone.  An inexpensive little slice of heaven!  Way cheaper than spending hours at a spa, and with the added bonus that after a few hours, you have something totally unique and beautiful to carry with you for up to 2 weeks!  You dont get that at a spa.  Add a few of your closest girlfriends and some frosty drinks and you've got summer time bliss! Enjoy the season and use the heat to do something you enjoy, plant some tomatoes, play in the sprinklers with your kids, or come to me and get some henna!  :) "Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time. " John Lubbock ...read more

Humor Times

I just got the new July 2010 issue of the Humor Times and it is superb. Every month the Humor Times pulls together a collection of the best political cartoons that relate to the news headlines of that month. It's a breath of fresh air. It's a court jester pointing out the foibles of our would be kings. It's The Daily Show in print. It's educational and just plain fun. This month's cartoons even made me laugh about the tragedy unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico. ...read more
