Howard’s NewsEdition 2 As you may have read in our last newsletter we have been playing musical stores. We have been jumping from store to store all within the same plaza while we wait for the demo to be finished on our permanent residence. We know it’s been a bit of a wild goose chase for you when you come looking for us, but we have good news! As of April 1st we will have moved our showroom to it’s final resting grounds at 1731 East Ventura Boulevard in Oxnard, CA 93036. There we will have our own warehouse so that we can carry more in stock flooring making it even easier and quicker for you to get your new floor. We will be having a GRAND RE-OPENING sometime in mid April. Don’t worry we’ll make sure to send you an invite with the details. In the meantime here’s a little story… Waste, But Not Wasted Regardless of what you have heard size does matter…at least when it pertains to flooring. It matters in many different ways, but today I'll tell you about it's importance when it comes to roll goods, specifically carpet and vinyl. When it comes to roll flooring the width (and possibly the length) of the flooring is just as important as the actual size of the room. Allow me to explain. Let’s say your vanity area is 9x9 a.k.a. 81 square feet, and you are interested in vinyl flooring. The vinyl you’ve selected comes in rolls that are 12 ft wide so we’ll get it 9 ft long. You see where this is going right? Although your vanity is only 81 square feet, you need 108 square feet of material, which is a full 25% of waste. As far as roll goods are concerned sometimes there are no good solutions. We pride ourselves on trying to find you the best flooring at the best price that best meet your needs. We will ask you questions that help us make the most educated suggestions. And as far as the waste, anything that’s left after the job is completed is yours to have, and vinyl makes a great shelf liner. We recently decided to start up a newsletter to keep in touch with all of our clients and Carpet One family. We just sent out our first one yesterday. Let us know what you think of it!Separating the Men from the Boys… Our lives are chock-full of opportunities to really shine as supermen, or as it is more often the case, to be exposed as mere mortals. Moving is one such opportunity even though we are only moving across the parking lot, it might as well be to the moon. It upsets my comfort zone; post-it notes have vanished, the ghosts have eaten some phone numbers. Nothing ever goes as planned, and the “Murphy’s Law” adage comes into full force!We have been without phones in the store for a week well not completely without phones, we can call you but if you call us the call is forwarded to a cell phone, and then we have to chase down the person you are calling and hand the cell phone to them, its quite a good lil workout! I know you’re jealous…I guess it does show that we can be innovative enough to overcome obstacles.We are temporarily located in the old Wicks building while the construction of our new site is completed. We were told it would be anywhere between 6 to 8 weeks. I have 9 weeks in the company pool…So if you would like to stop by and visit we would love to have you.
