About Poughkeepsie, NY
A principal small city of New York's Hudson River Valley region, Poughkeepsie is enjoying a renaissance of sorts as small business owners work to revitalize it and retain its historic charm. Just east of the Hudson River, the city, which was once New York's capital, stands about halfway between New York City and the current state capital of Albany. The metro area, which includes Newburgh and Middletown, encompasses all of Dutchess and Orange counties.
