By on March 18, 2009Dear Candy, Please excuse the delay in getting back to you. SSA considers earnings to determine whether you are performing "substantial gainful activity". Currently an individual can earn up to $980.00 per month without being considered as working. SSA also considers the work activity as well. As long as you are not engaging in more than a few hours per day of work activity and you are allowed frequent breaks, the work activity would not be considered "substantial".
