Ypsilanti is part of the Ann Arbor metro area of Michigan and is best known for its role in the automotive industry as the birthplace of the Tucker and Kaiser-Frazer automobiles and the home of the final Hudson dealership. Ypsilanti has a large historic district which is perfect for a walking tour. Every summer there are several car shows and outdoor music venues with free concerts. While the major employer for the area is Eastern Michigan University, the downtown area has been revitalized with an abundance of independent businesses.
