So you have decided that your special day is going to be something special indeed! An Alabama beach wedding can be tropical and one of the most beautiful and meaningful choices of venues, but without proper planning your beautiful beach wedding could easily turn into a nightmare. Don't worry though, because we are about to address the most common pitfalls to make sure that they don't happen to you!

  • Weather

Although we all hope for perfect weather for our special days, but in reality no one can guarantee perfect weather, and the Alabama Gulf Coast is no exception. It's always a good idea with any outdoor ceremony to have a contingency plan for inclement weather. Also even on the most beautiful summer days, there are two other elements that you must take into consideration to insure success: Wind and Heat! Even when the weather is perfect the beach can be a very windy place, so keep this in mind when planning wardrobes, decorations and seating. Also the beach can be brutally hot in summer, so it's a good idea to keep ceremonies as short as possible, and to provide bottled water for guests, who may get over heated.

  • Terrain

Every one loves the sugar white sands of the Gulf Shores weddings on the beach, but traversing a sandy beach can be a harrowing experience under the best of circumstances, and so, sand can make the simplest of tasks next to impossible on your big day. Although many popular wedding packages don't include on beach rehearsals, you may want to consider actually running through your ceremony on the beach, to get a feel for the environment. Also, be sure to have someone available to offer assistance to guests who may have a challenge moving around in the sand.

  • Wardrobe

Careful consideration must be given to the wedding party's wardrobe to insure both comfort and safety during your beach wedding. During the summer, the temperatures on the Alabama Gulf Coast can easily reach into the high 90's, and so it is important that the wedding party not be overdressed in order to avoid overheating. Avoid dark colors when possible and opt for lighter colored materials. As for the bride, its best to keep in mind that what works in the Church won't necessarily work on the beach. Try to avoid bulky dresses and long trains, and look for lighter weave materials if possible. Advise your guests that their attire should also be appropriate for the beach.

With a little planning, and a little cooperation from Mother Nature, your Gulf Shores Wedding, can be a great success. Keeping these important tips in mind during your wedding planning will insure that your beautiful day will be one worth remembering.
