The Plaza hits you with a Nostalgia the moment you step into the complex. Two Rickshaws await you there, but where is the Rickshaw-puller? It took me a little while to figure out that the Rickshaws (Three-wheeled Cycles) were there only for a show, It created a familiar scene of a marketplace in India,Now, you get in there to the Dhaba (restaurant), order a cup of Chai. Wow!! that's the Masala Chai from India - that's what I thought. Well, by the time you finish chatting of the cup of tea, dinner time approaches, and you order a snack pakora - goes really well with a light drink/soda. Time for dinner - how about Butter chicken (with a fancy name on the menu)? After dinner step into the store, by some vegetables, spices, and a few other essentials for the home..and by then you are totally soaked in an Indian market in Punjab. Years ago a friend and his family said they had to show me some good food and they introduced me to what i call the famous La Fonda fajitas. No joke these fajitas rang my bell and i was addicted. Now i have been going there for years have gotten to know the crew and they have taken me on a tour of the Menu so to speak. I have tried most everything now and I have my favorites like the Treo Fajita's, Green Burro Fundito Style, Chicken Enchilada combination with two eggs over medium on top, Steak Picado... hmmm I'm hungry. Seriously the list goes on and on. I understand this place has been here for 44+ years family owned and the recipes have stood the test of time. Oh and it's worth it to save some room that fried Ice Cream or Flan... To Die For!!! ...read more
