On August 11, a self-selected group of about 30 people joined me on Facebook for a 30-day challenge: avoid all added sweeteners. So that’s sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, dextrose, glucose, maltose (any -oses that I missed?), honey, maple syrup, rice syrup, barley malt, agave nectar, molasses, stevia, aspartame, saccharin, sucralose, sorbitol, xylitol. Some people in the challenge, myself included, were aiming to truly go 100% added-sweetener free. Others were just looking to become more mindful and reduce their intake. In early September, I changed things up a bit. The next challenge is going to start October 1 (join us?). I suggested extending this one until closer to the end of September. People were on board. So after 7 weeks, the challenge is winding down. It has been a fabulous group to work with. Fun to see progress, epiphanies, ire (at just how many products have added sugars). The group was very supportive of everyone who chimed in, whether with a success or a struggle, always encouraging each other. Truly, it was excellent. We found pasta sauces, salad dressings, and breads that had no added sweeteners. We shared recipes and articles. I want to share with you some of what all was going on. Amazing how much positive change can happen in a month or so… Click hereto read the rest. Maybe you'll be inspired to take a step today!
