We enjoy our little Mexican food hide-away restaurant. We particularily enjoy the patio when the weather is just right.... excellent, well prepared Mexican food (we are 50 year Arizona residents) and we know good Mexican food. If you have compassion for working people (servers) and you value cleanness, you'll want to avoid this dive. Kim is a whack-job who treats her servers like dirt. I worked there for a year and it is absolutely DISGUSTING! The kitchen is unclean and I would not trust anything that comes out of it. The cook/owner, Jack, is a nice guy. But his wife, Kim, is an absolute tyrant. She is disrespectful to her staff and to her customers. I know that the service was great while I was working there with Kendra, Darla, and Debbie, but since Kim drove her waitresses away and is apparently now working in the dining room, I can only assume that the service is absolutely terrible. Kokopelli's should be by far the best restaurant in Gold Canyon as it certainly was 5 years ago when I first started frequenting the place. Unfortunately, I have witnessed the prices go up and the quality of service - in particular - go down, while the fair on offer remains largely the same. Being Scottish by birth and having lived most of my adult life in the United Kingdom I was relatively new to Mexican cuisine when I first settled in Gold Canyon but I have to say I have found De La Cruz to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants here in Arizona and not just because they are right on our doorstep here in Gold Canyon. I can't profess to really know the difference yet between a burrito, a soft taco or a chimichunga but I do know that I love them all at De La Cruz.
