How Often to Get a Spa Facial

Types of Day Spa Facial Treatments

If you have never gone to a day spa and had a facial, you are missing out on a soothing, beneficial experience. Treat yourself to a facial in a quiet, pleasant environment and not only will you glow with a beautiful face, but you will restore your spirit.  There are several difference types of facials, each customized to your skin needs.

  • Microdermabrasion facial -  Also known as a power peel. Mild abrasives or fine crystals are sprayed across your face. Then gentle suction is used to remove the top outer layer of dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is recommended for lightening age spots and light scarring. It also treats blackheads, whiteheads and mild non-inflamed acne. The facial also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The result is to reveal the younger, tighter skin underneath. Microdermabrasion should not be done without the knowledge and consent of your doctor as some skin diseases and conditions may worsen.

  • Glycolic Facial - an exfoliate treatment tailored for aging skin with its fine lines and wrinkles. The facial is also recommended for sun-damaged skin. The facial uses alpha-hydroxy acids or concentrated glycolic acids, which exfoliate or remove dead cells and reverse sun damage. Skin becomes clearer, softer, and smoother. The glycolic facial is usually given in a series. Each facial treatment improves the skin’s condition.

  • Acne Facial - tailored for anyone who has mild to moderate acne. The facial unclogs pores, allowing for deep cleaning and removing of blackheads and whiteheads.
Acne facials help to control and reduce stubborn acne. The facial improves the skin’s clarity, soothing and decreasing redness. The acne facial is not for the face alone. It can also be used on the back and chest, wherever acne blemishes are a problem.

Facials are not just for women. Men can benefit from facials as well. In fact, shaving can cause unique problems. Men can suffer from razor burn, ingrown hairs and dry skin, along with acne. Facials can soothe red, irritated skin, give back moisture and leave the skin smooth to the touch.
