Ideas for a Home Movie Theater Room

Having a home movie theater room in your house is every movie lovers dream. Imagine a room with comfortable seats facing the huge movie screen. You can have posters and other movie stuff hanging on the walls and maybe even a popcorn machine in the corner.

Horror Nights

If you and your family are horror buffs creating a home theater theme is the easiest decorating you will ever do. Many movie theaters give away those huge displays when they are finished with them. Check your local theater and see if they have any horror displays hanging around in storage. You can take a huge cardboard Freddy Kruger, if you like, the classics or even one of the newer horror movie characters and put on the side of the door to the theater room. Decorate with classic movie posters such as “Halloween” or “Friday the 13th” on the walls and you are well on your way to every horror buffs dream.

Action and Adventure Theme

If you are more of an action type then consider decorating your home theater room in an action theme. In addition to your big screen monitor, invest in some top-notch surround sound speakers. With action the louder the better. Put some classic posters from movies such as “Jaws” or “Die Hard” on the walls. Decorate with big sized furniture so everyone can sit back and enjoy the ride. Installing a game station isn’t a bad idea either.

Chick Flick Ready

If you are a chick or even if you are married and still want to put your stamp on the home theater, a chick flick friendly theme is just the ticket. Feminine and chick friendly furniture is a start. Strategically place tissue boxes on the tables for those cry fest. Of course, the DVD library has to include movies like “Grease,” “When Harry met Sally” and “Pretty Women.” Posters would include Sophia Loren and Julia Roberts just to name a few.
