How to Plan for Flea Markets

How to Open a Booth at Flea Markets

By opening a booth at a flea market you have the opportunity to sell items you no longer want or items in which you have created to sell. These flea markets are open to several different vendors who wish to sell their wares.

  1. Visit the flea market to obtain guidelines and rules pertaining to booth vendors and what they are allowed to sell at this flea market. At most flea markets there is a specific representative that handles booth rentals. This representative provides potential renters with these rules and guidelines.

  2. Determine whether the items in which you wish to sell meet the rules and guidelines of this flea market by reviewing those provided to you by the flea market representative.

  3. Enter a renter's contract with the flea market representative. She or he will review these documents as you begin completing them to ensure that you understand your rights and obligations.

  4. Sign the renter's contract and pay the rental amount agreed upon by flea market representative and you. Ensure that you receive a receipt for your rental payment.

  5. Gather your items in which you wish to sell within your flea market booth.

  6. Take your items to your booth within the flea market. Begin pricing these items and labeling them according to the number assigned to your booth.

  7. Arrange your items in which you wish to sell in an aesthetically pleasing manner in order to attract buyers.

  8. Maintain your items and displays according to the rules and guidelines of the flea market.

  9. Collect the money generated by your booth sales. Generally the representatives of the flea market handle all sales for each booth within the property. Money earned from these sales is collected and place in an envelope for the booth owner.
