How to Make a Website on Microsoft Word

There are many reasons why you may need to have a website today.  Regardless as to whether you are looking for something for personal use or to showcase your business you should know how to create an attractive website. There is no need to purchase an expensive HTML editor to create your website if you have Microsoft 2005 or later. Word has a template to allow you to create your own website.

1.   Open Microsoft Word.  Double-click on the desktop icon or go to “Start” and then “All Programs.” Locate “Microsoft Word” and click once. Allow the program to load. Microsoft Word works well for creating simple, easy to navigate websites.

2.   Go to “File” and select “New” in order to create a new document.

3.   Type whatever you would like to say on your website and add any photos that you wish to use.  You can also change the color and size of your font if you would like to do so.  Make sure to use text boxes for each of your different paragraphs and pictures in order to keep your website organized.  To create a text box click on “Insert” and select “Text Box.”  Now you will need to use your mouse to create the size of text box you wish to use.

4.   Once you are finished creating your website go to file and choose “Save As” then choose to save it as a web document (as either .htm or .html).  You will now need to have a web host where you can upload your new creation.  In order to upload your site, you will need to have a FTP client to use.
