10 Mysteries of the Unexplained

Everyone is interested in stories of the unexplained. A great ghost story or spontaneous combustion peaks the curiosity of anyone and everyone. There are many of these stories but how much truth is there in them? No one actually knows, but there are a few that have been around a long time.

1. The out of body experience. This unexplained mystery is often called an out of body experience. No one can dispute the phenomenon but no one has actually come up with what it is our how it happens either. Many times this happens during a near death experience also.


2. Stonehenge. This is among the greatest mysteries. It is said to be over 5,000 years old and for Britain most likely the most important prehistoric moment in the country. The symmetry of Stonehenge is uncanny especially considering it was built so long ago.


3. The Great Pyramids of Egypt. Of all the mysteries of the world the Great Pyramids have to be the number one. They were also built around 5,000 years ago and there is no explanation of how they were or could have been built. The stones were 2-5 tons each and there were over 2 million of them. These pyramids were so many and so heavy that it would be tough to build them today, much less that many years ago.


4. Crop Circles. Crop circles have gone through many explanations and even said to have been explained by two men in Southampton, England. But over the years that would not hold up under the many others that have appeared. The intricate designs could not have been completed by two individuals overnight.


5. Sasquatch (alias “Bigfoot”). This mystery is still popping up today with amazing regularity. Supposedly this tall, hairy and heavy creature has been in the North American area for years. His albino relative in the Himalayas named Yeti also has been around for years but to date no one has actually cornered one for proof.


6. UFO (Unidentified Flying Objects). UFO’s have been going strong for many years and still are frequently seen as late as this year. They have been explained off as weather balloons, helicopters, comets, meteors and many other things. However very strong witnesses that have utmost credibility have confirmed sightings in some of these cases.


7. Mayan Prophecy. This particular mystery hinges on what is to happen on December 21, 2012. Needless to say with that particular date approaching, the theories are really becoming many and varied. Most of the theories state that life, as we currently know it will come to an abrupt end on that day.


8. The Bermuda Triangle. This may be one of the most famous due to movies and books about the subject. This area between Florida, San Juan and Bermuda has seen many ships and planes just vanish from within this portion of the ocean. Officially there is no explanation given and it is said there are no more losses than any other section of the ocean. But the unexplained disappearances leave much to the fertile imagination.


9. The Loch Ness Monster. In Scotland in the Highlands there is said to be a prehistoric creature in the lake. This “monster” first hit the scene in the 1930’s and has managed to hang around very well since then. No one has ever disproved the tale, but alas no one has proved it either.


10. The Belmez Faces. Supposedly in 1971 a woman claimed a face just appeared on her cement kitchen floor. She destroyed the floor and replaced it upon which a new face appeared. There were many faces that appeared and it became a place where many visitors came to see them. Supposedly the house had been built in 1830 above a graveyard.
